Auditory processing disorders affect about 15-20%, of the school-aged population, according to Dr. Jack Katz, Ph.D., author of the Buffalo Model.
About The Auditory Connection.
The Auditory Connection is a highly specialized pediatric audiology practice, with a locations in Illinois and Texas. We provide high quality comprehensive auditory processing evaluations, therapy, and education for children of all ages. We also work with schools to implement educational accommodations and special education services for Section 504 and Individual Education Plans. The Auditory Connection is unique; the practice focuses entirely on neurological development through the lens of the auditory system. We implement a "whole-body, whole-brain approach," as the auditory system does not function independently of other body systems. We have experience and expertise in typical neurodevelopment and neurodiversities. We will help you to understand the building blocks to effective listening and learning and how and why to remediate the foundational structures. The children we serve have many similarities and many differences. Whether your child struggles academically, excels, or is somewhere in between, we can help. We offer flexible scheduling, including evenings, weekends and some holidays. We are also certified in the evidence-based therapeutic listening programs, The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP), and The Listening Program (TLP). We implement a variety of movement-based programs to engage multiple sensory systems during therapy. Telehealth services are also available.
The Auditory Connection mission.
The Auditory Connection is dedicated to improving the listening, communication, educational, behavioral, social, and emotional difficulties children experience as a result of their auditory disorders.
"We are committed to the team approach for the diagnosis and management of auditory processing disorders, where the family is the center of the team. We get to know each child individually to best assess and treat his or her needs. We ensure that parents and caregivers understand the reason behind their child's different challenges. We design customized intervention and care plans for home and school. We work in collaboration with other professionals involved in your child's care." ~Dr. Donna and Dr. Christy
