Our Services.

Evidence-based services are provided in a relaxed, child-friendly, non-clinical environment, where parents and caregivers are encouraged to observe techniques.  After school, evening and weekend appointment times are available. With the appropriate treatment plan, most children will significantly improve in their abilities to communicate, pay attention, listen, follow directions and work independently.  Therapy outcomes are also evident in academic improvements in reading, math, spelling, writing, reading comprehension, oral reading fluency, and language skills. Parents and children often report greater self-confidence with communication in school, at home, and in social situations, after therapy. Read more under the Testimonials tab.

Intake Interview
A one-hour session with parent(s) or caregiver(s) to obtain complete medical, developmental and educational history information. Children may participate in this session at the parent's discretion. We will discuss your child's strengths and weaknesses.

Diagnostic Evaluation
A comprehensive test battery is administered to the child during this two-hour scheduled session. Testing may be completed in less than two hours, but test times will vary for each child. Short breaks are given in between each subtest, as needed. Preliminary findings may be discussed at the end of the session. A detailed written report is available in 3-4 weeks from the date of the evaluation. The Staggered Spondaic Word (SSW) test is routinely included in the test battery for all children aged 5 years and older. The SSW test, alone, has more than 30 different indicators for auditory processing difficulties; it is an excellent tool for diagnosing young children, as well as, children who may have a mild hearing loss.

Therapy
Treatment plans are highly customized based on information obtained from the Intake Interview and the Diagnostic Evaluation. We employ a variety of therapeutic programs. Most of our clients will benefit from individual auditory training. Individual training is scheduled in 50-60 minute sessions, once a week. Sessions may be scheduled every other week, if necessary, preferably after the first 4-6 sessions have been completed. Therapy is scheduled in "rounds." Round 1 of therapy is 15 sessions. Additional therapy "rounds," if recommended, vary in length for each child, but do not exceed 15 sessions. Therapy sessions are planned and adapted to best fit the needs, preferences, and learning styles of the child.  Group sessions may be available. Therapy programs administered by parents or caregivers, with direct support and supervision from a clinical team member, are alternative options to conventional therapy sessions, for some families. Teletherapy services, via video conferencing, are also available.
